More About Global Brand Protection |
| Global
Brand Protection works to prevent non-genuine parts from making their way into
the marketplace and onto your vehicle. Ford Motor Company takes the
issue of counterfeit parts very seriously. Counterfeiting is a worldwide
phenomenon and Ford Motor Company deploys resources around the world
to protect our brand and you, our consumers. Parts that are not considered
genuine are classified into several broad categories. These categories
are: |
| |
Counterfeit:
Counterfeiting occurs when a third party
copies an Original Equipment (OE) part or package through
their own manufacturing process and places a Ford trademark
on it. Or, when a third party places their own part into
a look alike package and attempts to sell the part to the
aftermarket as a genuine Ford piece.
Trademark Infringement: Trademark
Infringement occurs when a party unaffiliated with Ford
uses Ford's trademarks without authorization. This can occur
in many different areas, including the use of Ford logos
or trademarks on advertising materials, internet web sites
and apparel items.
Unauthorized Sales: Unauthorized
sales occur when parts are distributed via an unauthorized
channel. Some examples of this can occur when:
-------•
Parts not meeting Ford quality standards are not properly
destroyed
-------•
Theft of genuine product enters the marketplace
-------• Production facilities divert parts from normal market distribution channels to third parties
